In order to keep your motorcycle functioning properly for all your riding needs, you have to regularly maintain it. It’s always a good idea to have a professional mechanic check over your bike every so often, but there are actually a number of upkeep tasks you can easily do yourself at home to keep your motorcycle in great shape. You just need to have the right tools!

Pliers

Needle-nosed pliers are great for various repair tasks, from helping you hold a screw in place to twisting wires. Keep a few pairs handy in both your home and on-the-go tool kits.

Extra Fuses

The fuses in your motorcycle’s engine are liable to blow out, so having a few extra fuses on hand will help you avoid a trip to the shop. Make sure that the spare fuses are compatible with your bike.

Screwdrivers

A set of different screwdrivers is necessary for tightening and loosening screws on your motorcycle. You can also use the handle of a screwdriver to gently tap your spokes to make sure they’re properly tightened.

Flashlight

You’re likely to need some assistance to see into all your bike’s nooks and crannies, so a small handheld flashlight will come in handy. It’s especially helpful if you end up needing to make repairs when it’s dark outside.

Allen Wrench

This useful tool can tighten or loosen the fasteners on your motorcycle as needed. Invest in a foldable model that you can easily stow in your portable tool kit.
