There are times when you might wish to transport your motorcycle to a location rather than simply riding it there, whether because you plan to show it off or because the bike is built for off-road riding rather than street riding. This guide from Hideout Harley-Davidson® has more information about the different ways that you can transport your motorcycle, along with the pros and cons of each method.

Pickup Trucks

The easiest way to transport a motorcycle is by simply securing it inside a pickup truck’s bed. All you have to do is carefully walk the bike up a ramp and then secure it using tie-down straps. You might also want to cover it with a tarp in order to protect it from the elements. Most pickup trucks have enough hauling power to handle the weight of a motorcycle with no issue.

Trailers

It’s easy to load a motorcycle into a utility trailer since they are so low to the ground. Utility trailers are enclosed, and thus provide your motorcycle with plenty of protection. Just don’t forget to secure your motorcycle before you leave! While trailers specifically made to transport motorcycles do exist, any trailer that has enough space and weight capacity can be used to transport a motorcycle.

Transport Services

Just because you don’t have a suitable truck or trailer on hand doesn’t mean you won’t be able to transport your motorcycle. Certain transportation services will transport your bike for you. In fact, certain transportation services actually specialize in motorcycles! These transportation services typically offer some form of insurance just in case you’re worried about your bike getting damaged.
